CONVERSION KITS FIT:
Chevy based big block V8 engines 454-502 CID both sterndrive, inboard and V-drive. Kits are mounted horizontally off-engine. See above illustration.
MRM-5321 cools engines producing 500-700 HP. Heat exchanger is 4 1/8� x 32�
MRM-5322 cools engines producing 700-900 HP. Heat exchanger is 5 1/8� x 30�
COOLING SYSTEM TYPE
Block only. Engine block on fresh water system. Exhaust manifolds remain on raw water system.
Kit includes heat exchanger, remote mounted expansion tank with sight tube. Hoses, heat exchanger brackets and mounting fasteners are not supplied with this kit due to such a wide variety of mounting possibilities . The following hose sizes are required with lengths dependent on installation:
5/16� ID Bleed and Overflow
5/8� ID Fill and Expansion
3/4� ID Fixed Bypass
1� ID Port & Starboard Manifold
1-1/4� ID Thermostat Bypass & Raw Water Inlet
1-1/2� ID Heat Exchanger Inlet
1-3/4� ID Circulating Pump Inlet
Hose and bracket kits are available through Monitor Products.
The bracket for the expansion bottle will require two 3/8� fasteners with a countersunk head. The type of thread will depend on how it is mounted.
Some components from engine are reused. Heat Exchanger and Brackets are finished in black. Hose clamps all stainless steel.
Shell and tube type. Special high capacity design. All copper alloy construction made to the highest industry standards. Heavy duty dual demountable clean out end covers.
COOLING SYSTEM CAPACITY
Will maintain engine temperature in the 160-170 � F range using 160 � F thermostat, included in kit. System has capacity safety margin higher than industry standards.
Installation of 1-2 hours assuming new engine and normal accessibility. Allow additional time for filling and testing. Installation skills are not beyond those of most experienced do-it-yourself boat owners. Complete illustrated installation instructions are included in kit. Ordinary hand tools are used.
